My passion for all things French started at a young age and was heavily inspired by my mother who attended a French convent school in her youth. This experience heavily influenced the way she carried herself and raised her daughters. I remember the pleasure she took in setting our beautiful dinner table every night— the poise and elegance she emitted even when doing simple things.

I knew at a young age that this was a secret to life I needed to know. The essence of French culture elevated the way she lived. I wanted to understand it for myself.

As I grew up, I tried to embody the French’s amour de la vie (love of life). How would a French woman do this or that? My imagination would run rampant. On the train to my first summer job in NYC, I had a French Vogue magazine in my bag, even though I couldn’t read the language (my mother never taught us), and a packet of French cigarettes, even though I didn’t smoke. My desire to embody the French lifestyle allowed me to discover many of the wonderful things I love about their art and culture.

Although I was not born there, I have the soul of a Parisian. I know that there are many others who share this passion— I am in great company.

My Faux French Life has been a lifetime dream of mine. I want this website to be a great place to find beautiful French inspired items and for other Francophiles like myself to share their stories. To be French is just to be etre.  Life is much more important than work and the many mundane things we do each day that tire ourselves out. If I am able to inspire someone to take on this relaxed lifestyle, even if it is a Faux French Life, then I will consider this venture a success.
